Megali Ammos area and Megali Ammos beach are just outside Skiathos Town, only a 5–10 minute walk from the main pedestrian street, Papadiamantis Street.
The beach is very long and sandy — that is where its name comes from, meaning “long sand”. The water is clear and the view of the Tsougria islets is great, as is the view of the back of Skiathos Town.
Megali Ammos and Ftelia have many supermarkets and bars as well as many tavernas right on the beach. A great restaurant of the area sits by the pool of Villa Alexis: the Phoenix Restaurant of Skiathos — a great menu and taste, a beautiful location, extraordinary views of Skiathos Town and the Aegean, and amazing service.
